While some teachers and staff are good, the majority aren't. Then again it's not like they have strenuous standards for that sort of thing. After all, someone sleeps with a student every 5 years. The school has a bug infestation which they don't treat because it costs money they'd rather spend on sports. Academic programs are more punishing than rewarding, they cancelled trips in favor of labor and extra projects. Certain things are done right, but few and far between. Like another reviewer mentioned, pray to the gods you don't piss yourself in class, the Rules are strict. If you expect to have your kid build social skills, they only get to talk irregularly at lunch. The uniforms were awful, but it makes sense. If they actually enforced them equally, that would be nice. But like everything else, it's done half-assed.
Any parents thinking of choosing this school for your child? If the answers yes please do not be afraid of the ratings this school has,the ratings are just from kids that go there that want to find something to give this school a bad rep. I'm on my 3rd year here and there's only been a few minor problems, they keep looking principals over...uhm..some werid reasons.. and some teachers always have bad attitude or they are just....creepy...id say... but i mean it's just a basic school, the foods decent and stuff but one thing you want to be aware is that last year most of the kids failed the math eog because the teachers did not teach what was on the test. Kids in the A honor roll with 100s in math were put in summer school, so the education is...eh. there is a trans kids I heard in my grade and I feel bad because at this school there are fights constantly in the bathrooms and what not and you get bullied if you are not popular :/ I'm popular but it sucks to see my kind throwing mean words like that, and the Be team doesn't help. But I mean, I dont think this school deserves a 2 star rating. Coming from a student of 3 years here and a student of a mother that worked here for 5 :)
West Middle School has had some improvements but it is not enough. Some of the staff don't seem like they want to be there or just don't care for the students education. The uniform policy is not good for parents or students. Uniforms are more costly then regular jeans, shirts,etc. I will admit I have not seen that much cock roaches as much as before which is good but I'm still seeing them every now and then. I do believe the students need more time outside. Because just sitting in the class rooms all day is not fun. Also the BE Team seems like a good idea on paper but it has not really helped the bullying problem at all. It's just not enough. I don't think forcing the Football players, or other sports players to join it helps. It makes them hate it and just don't care. Also if your not cool or loaded with money expect to be bullied. My best advice for a student who is going to west middle is to join football and be funny. That's the only way to really be liked and not be bullied. Would I recommend this school to someone? No I would not due to some of the staff being rude or mean and not caring for our education and with the bullying problems. The recent staff changes for the Principe have helped but not as much as anyone would like. We need more fun and energetic teachers. I'm not trying to give this school bad rep but It's hard to say anything good about it.
This school is better than any school I have been to in my life. Give this school some respect, they work hard to make sure that the students get the right education. When I was there it was fun and relaxing, even though you had to do homework. The teachers are nice and they are always doing their job. #best.school.ever
